9 v 9 Summer League

June 23rd 2015

HCFCL made their debut in the newly formed Summer 9 v 9 League hosted by The Royal Navy FA at HMS Temeraire in Portsmouth.

All the games are two ten minute halves played on 4G turf and will take place every two weeks.

Hants secured a 0-0 draw with AFC Portchester in their first match. A great result considering that Portchester fielded the likes of former Pompey Ladies player Kirstie McGee who now plays in the Women's Super League for Reading.

The next match saw a 2-1 victory over Bursledon .

The third and final game ended as a 6-0 rout of HMS Collingwood to leave HCFCL at the top of the league at the end of week one.

HCFCL are runners up

On Tuesday March 3rd Hampshire Constabulary FC Ladies met New Forest Ladies at the home of Romsey Town FC.

The match was a play off final held over from last year to decide who were runners up in the Southampton Football League for the previous season after the two teams were dead level at the end of the season including goal difference.

Several players were forced to withdraw at the last minute leaving Hants with the bare eleven for the match

Hants started well but were caught out by a route one ball from New Forest that caught the Hants defence napping and allowed Sheree Bell-Jacks to nip in and finish to put Forest in front. Jacks doubled the Forest lead after a slip in the Hants defence with a neat finish from the edge of the box.

Hants settled and gradually started to piece together some good moves and managed to pull one back when Lorrae Rowan's high looping shot from 30 yards deceived the Forest keeper and dropped in.

Half time 1-2

The Hants defence wrapped Jacks up second half, reducing  her to long shots that Jess Timbrell in the Hants goal handled well.

Hants were now looking the fitter and more able side and Rowan added to her tally with a scrambled effort from close range to level the scores.

With time running out and extra time looming, Lisa Cooper found herself one on one with the advancing Forest keeper and finished superbly to put the cops in front.

The Forest keeper then made great saves to keep out Holly Knight and another Cooper effort.

The final whistle went in a well contested match which meant Hants were confirmed league runners up and received their medals from the League Secretary after the match.

Man of the match for Hants was Nicole Smithers playing her first ever full match of football with a solid defensive performance at right back.

Team was as follows:  Jess Timbrell, Nicky Smithers, Sophie Kingsley-Smith, Debbie Woods, Julie Way, Kayleigh Merrett, Lysette Russell, Lorrae Rowan, Holly Knight, Billy Hier, Lisa Cooper.

About HCFCL

Hampshire Constabulary FC Ladies were reformed in 2013 after a few years of inactivity.

Mainly composed of serving Police Officers and Police staff.

We play in the Southampton Saturday Football league women's division and achieved runners up spot in the 2013-2014 season.

In 2014-2015 season we achieved runners up in the league and reached the semi-final of the league cup.

All our games are played midweek under floodlights at local non-league grounds.

We also play friendlies against local club sides and military organisations.

We are always looking for new players to join the club.
